VAM 3.0.2 available with VS.NET 2005 support

Professional Validation And More v3.0.2 is now available. This service release includes numerous enhancements with the focus on assemblies enhanced to take advantage of the features of Visual Studio.net 2005/ASP.NET 2.0.

Version 3 users can retrieve this service release for free here. Version 2 users must upgrade to Version 3. Product and ordering details are here.

See the Installation Guide for instructions to install an upgrade from v2, a service release from v3.0.0/1 and to convert an ASP.NET 2.0 site to use the ASP.NET 2.0 enhanced assemblies.

Here are a few product highlights:
  • Client-side validation support for Telerik r.a.d. controls, including r.a.d. editor, r.a.d. grid, r.a.d. combobox, r.a.d. menu, and r.a.d. tabstrip.
  • The ASP.NET 2.0 enhanced assemblies no longer use the ADME add-in.
  • While "Themes and Skins" is a feature of ASP.NET 2.0, VAM's validators offer the ErrorFormatterSkinID property which allows users of all versions of ASP.NET to take advantage of a similar technique. You have always been able to save an ErrorFormatter definition. Now by setting the ErrorFormatterSkinID to the name of a saved definition, the ErrorFormatter will be configured using the definition instead of any settings you've applied to the page. This lets you modify ErrorFormatters globally.
  • ASP.NET 2.0 users will have XHTML "strict" compatibility. (Note: there remain a few bugs in the Microsoft controls from which VAM is based that generate XHTML errors. These bugs are in the ASP.NET 2 Beta 2 release. Hopefully they will be fixed by the official release.)
For details, see the Release Notes.

WARNING: The ASP.NET 2.0 enhanced assemblies are compiled with ASP.NET 2.0 Beta 2. They will be recompiled with the Release Candidate builds when they become available. A Beta 2 assembly may break when run on a site using the Release Candidate. A Release Candidate assembly may break when run on a site using Beta 2. So try to use versions of ASP.NET 2.0 that are the same release as these assemblies.
